A few months ago I bought a lot of vintage quilting templates from eBay.
They are all cut out of cardboard, and have all been well used. There are some very interesting examples here.
I am finishing up a quilt and needed to quilt the border so I decided one of these would be perfect. Here is the template and some of the quilting finished.
Here is the front of the quilt
With dark fabric I use a white chalk pencil and mark as I go. If I mark too much ahead of the area I am quilting all the marking wears off before I get to it.
I should have the quilt finished soon , the quilting pattern is very simple so it goes pretty fast.
After the quilting is done I will have to decide how to bind it. I might just bring the backing fabric to the front rather than make a separate binding. I might even try a knife-edge. I like to vary how I do it. I can never decide which I like best, and variety is fun.
Look for pictures of the finished quilt soon
Happy Quilting
Tim
