Why is it that I have 100 channels of cable TV and there is nothing to watch? I think perhaps we have become spoiled. What did they do 100 years ago when they were sitting down to work on a quilt after dinner? It was not watch TV. Is it time for me to go low tech?
Should I play my Victrola? Someone may have worked on a quilt while listening to this.
Want to turn up the volume? open the speaker doors
Wind it up and put on an old 78
It does require a lot more work than a long-playing CD, each record is only a few minutes long, but it doesn’t suffer from nothing good being on and It has no apps, no batteries, no cords, no downloads, no advertizing, just music. Perhaps they knew what they were doing.
Anyway I’m working on the flags tonight. I got 3 rows sewn together and started decorative stitching with red perle cotton.
There are some interesting flags that you wont find in current geography books
Time to wind the Victrola
Happy Quilting
Tim

Yes and they listened to radio shows. We have canceled a lot of our tv package why pay for a 100 stations when you always watch the same 20 or whatever. I mainly just listen to old reruns most of the time as I know what happens and I can concentrate on looking at my stitches. You might try a book – listen while it is being read to you!

I should look into audio books, it has to be better than watching endless real-estate shows on HGTV….how many time is it fun to watch someone buy or sell a house!?
I’m afraid I get tired of those rather quickly – I put on NCIS and/or old movies, even if I have seen them before I rather have a “story” to listen to. I have tried the audio version of books on my Kindle but do not like them.
Old movies are my favorite! Im getting good value from netflix….
Love this post, Tim! I TOTALLY agree with you about having an early photo of a woman with her Tobacco Quilt! How cool! Thanks for stopping by to see my “Indian” quilt post. I have posted two more “Indian” quilts to that same blog!! I now know of four of them! Cheers! Karen
Thanks Karen
I wish I could have a picture of every woman who made the quilt tops in my collection!
Those indian quilts on your blog are so cool! I love the blue and red one! Now I really want to make one
