Texture

pickle dish quilt back

Today on Celebrate Hand Quilting we were asked to post a single picture…no words just a picture.  I posted this

I think often we fail to recognize the beauty of the back side of a quilt.  Hand quilting adds so much texture!  I think the back of many of my quilts is just as pretty as the front.  so here are a few pictures. (click to enlarge)

Happy 4th!  enjoy the video

Tim

The backs of your quilts are as stunning as the front! They’re all gorgeous!

I love the backs of quilts. The only reason my friend makes her backs out of broadcloth is so that she can have a two sided quilt. If prints were used, the hand quilting would be lost.

The broken star back looks really good, my quilting isn’t really straight enough to have a solid backing but one day maybe.

Hi Tim!! I agree the back is just as beautiful in its own way.
And I loved, loved LOVED the American Pie lipSync in GR

Oh yeah, me too…Jim heard the song on my computer and came upstairs to see what was up. And I said LOOK! It’s in GR!!! So cool…any idea when it was filmed?

Wish it would rain for you there….

I dont know when they filmed it but it looks fairly recent….AQS posted it in a newsletter about the show in Grand Rapids …

What a treat to see the quilted backs, they are out of this world beautiful.

I’m just oooooo-ing and aaaahhhh-ing over your backsides! HA!
I love having solids for the backs! Backs are as artistic as the front and sometimes I think the back is the best part. Hand quilting just CAN NOT be beat! I think I have machine quilted 3 quilts and that was only because I was going to give them away (not sure how the receiver of the quilt was going to take care of the gifted quilt). I am just determined to hand quilt all my other tops. HA, slow goings I’m afraid, I guess maybe that is why I have over 20 tops that need to be quilted. I LOVE the dip and dot look of hand quilting better than I do machine quilting.

    Your quilts look great!

I just wish I could be “fast as fast can be” like this guy named Tim Latimer……..sigh…..

I agree about hand quilting …can’t be beat…sometimes I quilt too fast and sacrifice stitch uniformity and size, I need to remember that it is not a race

I would love to hear from you!
