I will be teaching classes all day Friday (pictures to follow) so I am posting tonight about a new top that I could not resist.
It is another eBay top and It was $31.00 I just love the bold contrast between the log cabin blocks and the red bands. I can see why it was never quilted. It is a bit beyond “quilting out” the bumps.
Some of the blocks are pieced in with one row of logs almost all sewn into the seams
and some look pretty good
I think I can fix that by separating the blocks from the bands and pressing them and then re-attaching. I don’t want it to be perfect, I love the rustic look, but I do want it to be quiltable. I don’t think I would ever want to wear any clothes that this quilter made.
This one looks to be early 1900′s and it is a great size, 90″ x 90″. This one doesn’t seem to call for very elaborate quilting so It should go pretty fast, and since it just arrived today I am still pretty excited about it….If you ask me today I would say this is the next one I will work on….but that can change at any time!
Happy Quilting
Tim

Ok, I see the red from the first pics and it is a neat print….
I see the ‘ART’ in this quilt – to – be. And you are VERY BRAVE!

[...] got the top done. I purchased this top because I love the rustic look. (See the post about the top here for before pictures) I think the irregularities make it charming. I did not want to make any changes to it but I had [...]
