I have been working on so many things at once that I thought it was time to show the antique again.

I have made good progress….but compared to the very simple big stitching I have done lately this is very slow work.

I still had the last quilt on the floor when I decided to bast then next one.   Teddy took the opportunity to pose on it before I got to work on the next one.

I always do my basting on the floor.   I start by tacking the backing to the floor

I am trying a new batting.

It is thicker than their other battings and has no scrim.

will see how hard it is to quilt!   I wanted to try it because I really do like the feel of a heavy quilt.

Smooth out the batting over the backing. and then the top goes on top of that.

and now I pin.   Some people pin like crazy….I don’t use very many, 90 for the whole quilt.

It really is very simple and a full sized quilt like this takes less than 30 minutes start to finish.

Ready to give the hand quilting a try. I take out any pins in the hooped area before I start.

Next time I will show the quilting and let you know how the batting is working.

Happy Quilting

You know I love that antique quilt! Good to see it again…I never get tired of seeing that one…. Looking forward to seeing how you will quilt this next one…and how you like the batting. I typically use a lower loft, but I am always interested in learning about new options.
Teddy looks so handsome sitting on the log cabin quilt…and I see he has his bone with him.

Teddy looks appropriately pleased! All the quilts look wonderful. I usually hand quilt with wool batt so I’ll be interested to hear how you like this new one.
