more hand quilting

I have begun the hand quilting on this top

Pretty basic outline quilting with black 40 weight thread

The hand quilting is adding a lot of dimension.

On this quilt the hand quilting doesn’t show much on the back because of the busy pattern of the fabric.

I did some more on this one as well

I have a lot more done than I thought  so this might be finished soon.

The quilting on the back of this one does stand out.

here are a few more pictures (click pictures to enlarge)

Teddy was happy to be back to work posing.

Happy quilting

It’s so fun to see your progress on both quilts. I’m impressed with how consistent your stitching design is since you are eyeballing it, right? Your years of practice show.

And I love Teddy’s expressive ears!

yes I am eyeballing it…..I really hat to mark so I do it by eye whenever I can….I think that is usually how I decide on a quilt design…..first thought is always what can I do without marking …..Teddy does have expressive ears…I was glad I got that picture today with his ear up, he usually puts it down right before I get the picture

I love the way the “melons” look with the quilting. It really gives them dimension. I just started working on a quilt with wool batting, and the same thing is happening. It is a very simple 9-patch with narrow sashing, so I am quilting around the squares within the 9-patch. The quilting is making the squares pop out. I really like the effect. Abbey says hi. 😉
