National Quilting Day

National Quilting Day is observed on March 19, 2016. It celebrates quilts and those who make them annually on the third Saturday in March. The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991. Their members passed a resolution in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 1991.
I spent A good bit of National Quilting Day working on a few machines……an old Graybar portable needed a new drive friction pulley and a good cleaning and the Wheeler and Wilson got a good cleaning and I spent some time on-line looking for bobbins and needles.
I also worked on a quilt….doing the machine quilting on a Singer 127 treadle.

The highlight was visiting with Bonnie Hunter…….she was in town to do a lecture and workshops.    We have know each other for a few years through the internet but it was so nice to meet in person.  Her quilts really even more amazing to look at up close! From a distance you would not realize how many different fabrics there are…..hundreds.     She really knows how to use every bit and I think she would die if she saw my trash can in the studio!

Your machine quilting on a treadle is incredible. Hand quilting is not slouchy either! 🙂
Tell Teddy he is too cute!

It’s so fun to see my two favorite quilter gurus in one picture! Glad you two got to meet in person finally. It’s fun to see your machine quilting as it progresses too. Did you have luck finding needles and bobbins for your latest acquisition?

The quilt is beautiful. It’s so nice to meet someone you’ve never met and admire.
I’d it’s good to see Teddy. He’s been in hiding.

Tim, I enjoy seeing your progress with your machine quilting. Your designs compliment your blocks nicely. Thank you for providing updates about your machines!
