I am working on multiple projects at once. I guess my attention span is getting shorter 🙂
here is one that will be a wall hanging
Here is one for a tote bag
I did a video of how this machines is working for Free Motion Quilting.
I couldn’t help but take a few more pictures of my favorite lilies.
I can’t remember if I posted about the American Quilters Society fall Paducah show. Two of my quilts were accepted
I have been getting notices that the last day to enter a quilt in the 2017 AQS Quilt Week Spring Paducah contest. I got another one today reminding me that today is the LAST day to enter. So I beat the deadline by a few hours and entered 3 quilts.
They are all machine quilted on one of my treadle machines. I am pretty new to Machine quilting so I don’t really know what to expect.
only one quilt per category is allowed but I had 3 that I was pretty happy with.
I don’t know if any will be accepted but I do think I will try to make it to the show this year. I have not gone to the Paducah show before and I think it would be fun to go .
It started to snow yesterday…..and it is beginning to really feel like the holiday season is here .
I think it might be time to think about some Christmas cards
I just got notice that my peacock feather quilt was accepted for the AQS Daytona Beach Show March 1 – 4.
I made a few videos of the progress while I was making it.
I will have to see if I can work out a trip to Florida to see it.
Sometimes (often) I start to do one thing and end up doing something totally different.
I realized on Friday that I almost missed the deadline to enter a quilt in the Phoenix American Quilters Society show in February. I read through the categories and decided to enter my Rose Quilt. I needed to get a picture of it hanging to use for the entry and one close up picture. In order to do that I needed to do some unpacking that has been waiting for me (more about that later). It was wrinkled so I had to steam it to get pictures. Anyway here is the full pic and the close up.
So that being done it was back to unpacking. I still have a ton of stuff in boxes that needs organizing in the studio. I started on a tub of fabric and didn’t even get it unpacked before I got distracted by a new plan and started working on a new quilt top.
I have a lot more fabric than I realized.
and nothing in the tub has made it to the shelf yet 😦
I did take a few picture of the garden
most of the flowers in the older part are done for the year.
There are a few things in bloom, Celosia Argentea and Toad lilies are looking good.
The Rudbeckia hirta I planted in the new bed by the drive is blooming
My new grass is looking great. The beds around the edges are filling in with plants as I have time to divide and move things.
So much to do before the end of fall!
But now it is back to work hand quilting. I have a lot to catch up on!
I made it to the AQS show in Grand Rapids today. Here are a few pictures (click pictures to enlarge) I only took a few pictures.

I know it might seem odd to some but I get excited about batting! Hobb’s is my favorite. Here is what I got today. (I will be posting about how the work out as soon as I start quilting )
I love the wool but I am excited to try the wool cotton blend.
And here is a handy chart
There are over 300 quilts there so if you have the time in the next 2 days it is worth the trip.
I made a bit of progress on the snowflake quilt.
I spent the day Saturday at the AQS show in Grand Rapids. I had my doubts I would ever get there. Road construction on I-96 had traffic at a dead stop and added 2 hours to the drive from Lansing to Grand Rapids. I got there quite late on Saturday so I didn’t have a lot of time to spend looking at everything.
Here are my quilts at the show.
No ribbons 😦 but they go to Des Moines next for the AQS show there.
I told myself I was not going to buy anything since I really don’t need any new projects. I’m sure you know that was a silly thought.
I needed a tote bag to carry my camera and phone and glucose meter and notebook. And as long as I was buying that I had to get the T-shirt to match
I had to buy some batting because I love Hobb’s Tuscany Silk and they had a great price…and why not try the cotton as well ( I have tried lots of cottons but not this one )
And since I had a bag to carry them in I bought a few fabric bundles.
I need to decide what to do with them but for the moment I think I will get back to hand quilting.
Today I got notice that my Whole cloth Quilts have been accepted for the AQS show in Des Moines Oct 1-4
And a few new things
First I got the Interplay quilt blocks sewn together.
and pin basted ready for hand quilting.
More on the hand quilting soon.
And I started layout on a new whole cloth quilt.
Of all the blog posts I have done The post about making snowflakes has been the most popular.
In that post I included a pattern to make this snowflake
Looking am blogs site stats I see that I am still getting several view per day of this thanks to Pinterest.
I decided that since I already designed the snowflake and it is a popular design, I should use it in a quilt.
I am no fan of applique….so I am not going to try to do that…it will be done as a whole cloth quilt.
I cut a stencil of the design to trace it onto the cloth
and used a blue clover wash away marker .
I am now in the process of adding more detail.
More on this as it develops.
Here are a few more snowflakes I have made (click pictures to enlarge)
It seems early to be thinking about a Christmas quilt but It really isn’t far off 😦
