Testing the new machine

I got the new machine set up in a table (I really do prefer to have a machine in a table rather than on top of a table) and gave it a test drive today.

It is a great machine!

I finished the butterfly quilt

Here is how I do the binding.

I enjoyed the painting process so I started another .

I love birch trees and fall leaves

I will add a border to this one to make it larger.

I saw the Dr on Tuesday and there is yet to be a definitive answer or solution to the pain in my abdomen.   They want to do an Endoscopic ultrasound, so I said “great schedule it for as soon as we can”    next available is mid Oct.    So will wait 6 weeks and then have that test and go from there.

Meanwhile I will do as much quilting as I can 🙂

Starting a new quilt

I am working on finishing the Butterfly quilt.   This is the Quilt I did with Derwent Inktense pencils that my friend Ginny George sent me (I plan to do a video of how I do the drawing/painting soon).  I have it all finished except for the binding.    I will also do a short video to demo how I do machine binding.

The new machine That I won arrived!   I have not tried it yet, but I will soon

I am working on a baby quilt, the colors to match the nursery are pink and gray.

here is some of the fabric and my less than perfect plan.

fabric cut into 2.5 inch strips and then 2.5 inch squares.

so there is the start……I will do some detail with the machine quilting (that is where the new machine will make it debut)

I added a few fabric scraps just to get an idea what it will look like with a face

After this is stitched together I will add borders .

I decided to mark down all the quilts and bags in my Etsy store 25%  until the end of the month https://www.etsy.com/shop/timquilts .   New items hopefully starting in Sept.

Teddy is tired and ready for some attention

Save

more painting

I have done a bit more painting on fabric…this time using inktense pencils (thank you Ginny!!)

I am going to finish this as a small wall quilt.

I saw the Dr on Monday and got a lot of blood drawn for more tests…..for both the joint pain and the stomach pain and I have a CAT scan scheduled for Friday……will keep you posted on what we find out.

Teddy went to see the groomer and is looking spiffy so he wanted his picture taken.

I put all the quilts in my Etsy shop on sale at 25% off until the end of August.

Coneflowers

The coneflowers are blooming away in the garden.

It inspired me to start this quilt.

I worked on it a little more

I have a lot of background quilting to go and I want to do a bit more painting.

I worked on the sewing machine top….here is the before

and after

Not perfect to be sure but I hope I look that good when I am 130.

Now I can clean up a bit and re-organize to find a good place to put it ….it sews beautifully so I do plan to use it .

Tree Finished

I finished the Tree Quilt (actually this one is a study for the larger tree quilt)

I decided to offer it for sale https://www.etsy.com/listing/546834507/blue-moon-art-quilt?ref=shop_home_active_1

The top for the Singer VS2 arrived. It needs a lot for work!   but it is going to be great.

I will post some more pictures as I work on cleaning it up.

I am working on a leather briefcase/messenger bag on one of my Singer 15’s

And I did a video

I am going to see a physical therapist on Wednesday…..hopefully I can get the kinks worked out of my shoulders and elbows and knees.    I had x-rays of my hands and they showed degeneration many of the joints in the fingers, thumbs and wrists ….will see what they can do about that if anything.

I’ll keep you posted.  Fortunately none of this is bothered by machine quilting so I have plenty to keep my busy!    I have a few hand quilting projects in progress forever now that I really want to finish so hopefully soon.

Sunday Stitching

I am working on multiple projects at once.    I guess my attention span is getting shorter 🙂

here is one that will be a wall hanging

Here is one for a tote bag

I did a video of how this machines is working for Free Motion Quilting.

I couldn’t help but take a few more pictures of my favorite lilies.

I can’t remember if I posted about the American Quilters Society fall Paducah show.   Two of my quilts were accepted

Blue

I worked some more on the Blue tree quilt.    I took a break from quilting to start on the painting.    I am using acrylic paint and water……I am not worried about a fabric medium since this is a wall hanging and will not need to stand up to washings.

I have a lot of painting to go and a lot of quilting.   This is the small practice version (30″ x 45″)

the bigger one is 60″ square and I will start that soon.

Here is a tour of the garden today (click pictures to enlarge)

I got the old singer stitching beautifully!   I will show you that next time.
